In a joyous celebration for the honor of Torah, hundreds of Yerushalayim residents and Rachmastrivka chassidim participated in an inspiring Hachnassas Sefer
Torah organized on behalf of the Greenwald family.

The Greenwalds, who won the Sefer Torah in Yad L'Achim's annual raffle for donors to the mitzvah of pidon shvuyim, had it brought to the Rachmastrivka Grand Beis Medrash in memory of the tzadekes Bina, a"h, wife of Harav Avraham Greenwald, z"l, who never had children of their own.

The Sefer Torah was completed at the Greenwald's home in Yerushalayim, with the honor of writing the final letters given to the Admor of Rachmastrivka, shlita.
In his remarks, the Admor turned to Yad L'Achim activists and thanked them for the merit that befell his holy kehillah to receive such a mehudar Sefer Torah. He also blessed the Greenwalds and all the donors to the mitzvah of pidyon shvuyim via Yad L'Achim.

The Admor added that the Hachnassas Sefer Torah was a tangible expression of Chazal's saying that "one mitzvah leads to another." By donating to pidyon shvuyim the Greenwalds merited a Sefer Torah.

"I know of the activities of Yad L'Achim for many years," the Admor said. "Giving to pidyon shvuyim is a most elevated mitzvah." Relatives, friends and Yad L'Achim activists – including Rav Chaim Eisenberg, Rav Chaim Kahn and Rav Yehoshua Klatskin – were given the honor of writing letters into Torah.

A huge procession led by the Admor, shlita, accompanied the Sefer Torah towards the Great Beis Medrash. It was escorted by a luxury car, decorated especially for the occasion, which drove alongside participants providing music befitting the occasion.

Yad L'Achim, which publicized the event ahead of time with flyers posted on the streets, equipped hundreds of Yerushalayim children with torches in honor of the Torah.

The boisterous dancing continued as the procession arrived at the Grand Beis Midrash, where participants were invited to sit down to a sumptuous seudas mitzvah. In the middle of the meal, the winner delivered heartfelt thanks to Yad L'Achim, stressing the excitement felt by the family at being able to realize their life's dream. "We have dreamed for decades to bring in a Sefer Torah for the sake of the soul of the important and righteous woman Mrs. Bina, wife of the late Rav Avraham Greenwald, who passed away without leaving behind any descendants.

“From the Heavens they arranged for us to receive this beautiful Torah and bring it to the Rachmastrivka Beis Midrash in Yerusahalayim”.
