Boys rescued with their mothers from Arab villages, who are now celebrating their Bar Mitzvahs, paid a memorable visit to the office of Hagaon Harav Yigal Cohen,. “G-d loves you and always listens to you,” the Rav told the boys, in a message they so desperately needed to hear. “Ask Him for whatever you need, and you will receive it.”
Harav Cohen, a member of the Chief Rabbinate Council, expressed his admiration for the boys and the spiritual leaps and bounds they have made since being rescued by Yad L’Achim. He credited the organization for assigning mentors to each of the boys to guide them on the path to Torah and make it possible for them to succeed in religious schools.
Harav Cohen warmly blessed the boys and offered them words of encouragement. “You special children have merited to go through a special path in the world of the Creator, and it is important that despite everything, you remember to give thanks for it every single day. To give thanks for your rescue and that of your mothers, to thank the Creator for placing you in Torah schools, to thank G-d for creating in His world the Yad L’Achim organization that gave you such special rabbis who embrace you with devotion, and to thank Him for every single detail of your lives.
“You have no idea how much in Heaven they appreciate those who remember to give thanks for everything they have, and then G-d also gives them much more. Everything they ask for – they will give them from Heaven. Because in Heaven they love those who remember to give thanks for everything that happens to them, and in return the Creator gives them more and more. If you remember to give thanks every day for your rescue, G-d will give you many times over.”
The Rav added: “You are special children who have experienced many difficulties, many ups and downs in your lives. For this reason, you have been blessed that the moment you put on tefillin in the morning and turn to G-d in prayer, He loves you and listens to you immediately. He will always hear your prayer; ask Him for anything you need and you will receive it, because you are wonderful and beloved children.”
At the end of the heartwarming meeting, the Rav addressed each of the precious mothers, asking about her rescue and day-to-day struggles. He proceeded to bless each child and his mother and thanked Yad L’Achim activists for always being there for these families.
“Blessed is he who partners in Hashem’s activities,” he told the activists. “The people of Israel owe you gratitude.”
