Yad L’Achim Launches ‘Danger on Wheels’ Campaign to Head off Assimilation

Complaints have been streaming into Yad L’Achim’s emergency hotline of minority bus drivers taking advantage of their position to lure Jewish girls.
According to the complaints, these drivers start with the girls by waiving their bus fare or agreeing to pick them up or drop them off in between scheduled stops. The relationship goes downhill from there.
Yad L’Achim checked into the complaints and found, to its shock, that the phenomenon is spreading in many large cities around the country, including on bus lines catering to chareidim. In some instances, girls have converted to Islam and moved to Arab villages.
Repeated appeals by Yad L’Achim to the bus companies to terminate the employment of these drivers, citing specific cases of unethical behavior, have been ignored.
With the a new school year approaching, Yad Lachim has launched a public relations campaign entitled “Danger on Wheels.” Thousands of proclamations have been distributed around the country calling on the bus-riding public to be on the lookout for such behavior and to help safeguard the modesty of Jewish girls.
Yad L’Achim embarked on the campaign, after complaints to the authorities and police fell on deaf ears, in order to prevent further tragedies.
