How Does the Department Work?
The phenomenon of assimilation and relationships between Jewish women and girls and minority members is painful and widespread. Moreover, it has grown more serious with each passing year. The relationships develop for the most part against a background of distress and poor self-image among the girls, which leads to their being taken advantage of and, ultimately, to violence. The many children born of these relationships grow up in an Arab environment, raised as Arabs in every sense. Each child is a complete tree that can, G-d forbid, be cut away from Israel forever.
Relatives who are connected to the girl, who see her suffering, feel helpless to save her. They turn to Yad L’Achim and we provide them a quick and comprehensive solution. Sometimes, when we’re talking about a Jewish woman who is living with an Arab man and suffering abuse, it is the woman herself who contacts us for help.
In these cases, we immediately recruit a team to rescue the mother and her children, help rehabilitate them, and provide financial and emotional support.
Yad L’Achim owns 10 apartments around the country, which it uses to house rescued women and their children at no cost to them. The location of these homes is kept secret for the sake of the women’s safety.
Yad L’Achim publicizes its telephone number in every possible media. Those in need can turn to us 24 hours a day at our hot line, 1800-620-640 and receive professional advice from a trained social worker.
